Same thing with this water heater the bottom and sides are dented ,the side was dented bad half way up heater.Had to shim heater so it would not wooble.To return heater, shipping would be almost one third purchase price,so i rolled the dice and kept it! Factory boxing is very poor.UPS shipping bunch of butchers.Dont waste your money spend the extra and buy a better heater with better boxing.Beware of Amazons cancelling policy if it even exists!

The tank arrived in a box from UPS. No noticable damage on the outside of the box, but when it was opened, I discovered that the bottom of the tank had been dented on 2 sides. This came from poor packaging and being dropped in transit probably more than once. Inspect the packaging when you get yours for possible damage. The unit works fine once it was installed, but I wonder if the glass lining on the inside of the tank could have been broken or cracked which will shorten the life of the tank.
