I wanted an instant water heater for my apartament, as I live in a hot climate this was a perfect option, instalation was very easy, I had to put 60 amp brakers and it works wonderful, I replaced an old 40 gallon tank that was broken, now I have space available and spend less energy, this little thing give endless hot water but you have to be sure you have the correct wires to bear 50 amps of the unit. Excellent product.

Hi everyone, Bought this water heater and it works great. I live in a two story house and put the htr in the basement. Bath is upstairs, approx 25' and it supplies me plenty of hot water. Been plumber for 40yrs and this is an excellent htr. Give it 5stars. And to top it all off the company that sells it are even better! Rated them a 10+ 10 being the highest. Choose this one, cause the co. will answer your email within 24hrs.

First, the wiring info on the package is wrong, on all the Rheem boxes, so, the 1st one I ordered, the RTE 18, seemed to be defective, as well as this smaller one. Once I found that the wiring called for TWICE the amperage than was listed I finally got hot water. That was a rigamorole hopefully no-one else goes through if they read this.
My complaint with it has more to do with my choice at this point, and the misleading GPM. The 18 had 4 heater elements in it and was listed as a 5 GPM unit. This 13 is listed as a 2.8 and has 2 elements, do the math yourself there. It does not provide a hot shower out of a 2.5 GPM faucet. I wish I had kept the bigger one as it is more in line with powering my PUNY apartment. The 5 GPM would've been adequate enough to allow a sink to run along with a shower and still get hot.

After installing the RTE 18 it was amazing the hot water was fine. I am on city water so hard water is not a factor Then after two months it would not heat. Upon opening the cover i observed the mother board was fried i contacted Rheem they will not warrenty it because i don't have the seriel number. It is not on the piece of equipment it was on the card board box it came in (I recycle). They informed me that you can not replace parts on these you have to purchase a new one $614.00 is a lot of money for two months of hot water Rheem RTE 18 Electric Tankless Water Heater, 5 GPM
